LiveStrong FoundationJuly 10, 2015 -
The LiveStrong Foundation, founded in 1997 by Lance Armstrong, has served millions of cancer patients through services that assist with financial, emotional, and physical support. Lance has devoted himself to becoming a leading advocate for cancer survivors, raising more than $500 million to serve them.
The programs and services fighting for people affected by cancer heavily depend on the money from donors. Of the $400 million raised, 81% has gone to directly support these programs. The LiveStrong Foundation has addressed the issue of stigma and silence associated with cancer by conducting anti-stigma campaigns in South Africa and Mexico in 2010 – 2012. These campaigns ended up empowering cancer survivors to share their experiences with their communities and inspired millions of people.
